What Inspired The Teachers’ Compass?

Education worldwide is shifting tracks from content-based memorization to developing personal competencies to fit a changing future world. As the Internet and AI continue to break all barriers of content, speed, and systems, a new teaching-learning mindset is required, based on personal competencies, rather than content (explained in The Third Education Revolution).

The New National Education Policy 2020, is the Indian government’s response to this challenge. With good strategic vision, its comprehensive reach makes it a long term solution, difficult to implement with outdated infra-structure and just a 3-6% allocation of the GDP. Besides, it is burdened with its own ‘cultural’ tilt.

An emphasis on skills without ethics to tether them, leaves the learner without the tools to create a just, harmonious society. The probability is that this generation of school students are educated but ignorant of the Sovereign God, who is the source of the knowledge they gain in school. Neither are they aware of what He intended us to use this knowledge for.

This concern resulted in the creation of The Teachers’ Compass. It is intended for middle school teachers to instill ethical values in students on the threshold of adolescence.
